Dr. Juan Trujillo
MD PhD FPAED
Dr Juan Trujillo is a Consultant Paediatric Allergist in Cork University Hospital and a senior lecturer at University College Cork (UCC). Since 2021 he is the program director of the post-graduate programs of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of UCC. He finished his Doctoral degree PhD in Health science Research in Valladolid University Spain in November 2023.
Juan trained in Paediatric Allergy and Pulmonology at Corporacio Sanitari Parc Tauli Hospital Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain). He is a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the Irish Association of Allergy and Immunology, the British Society for Allergy & Clinical Immunology (BSACI), the Spanish Society of Paediatric Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SEICAP).
Paediatric Allergy and Pulmonology External Rotations during his training included: Paediatric Pulmonology in Hospital Niño Jesús (Madrid -Spain) and Arnold Palmer Children Hospital (Orlando Florida US). Paediatric Allergy and Immunology in Miami Children Hospital (Miami Florida US).
MD title from Universidad Científica del Sur (Lima Perú). MSc in Paediatric Pulmonology, Allergy, and Immunology from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Barcelona Spain).
His Research interest and profile include pharmacology clinical trials, allergy educational research projects, oral and inhalant immunotherapy trials, and asthma research.
Juan founded Allergy Cork in 2021 and offers specialist care to children and their families in the clinic.

Dr Sadhbh Hurley
BAO MSC
Dr Hurley graduated from University College Cork with first class honours in 2014 before moving to Dublin to complete her Paediatric Training with the Royal College of Physicians Ireland.
During her Higher Specialist Training she completed a Masters in Allergy in Imperial College London graduating with first class honours and receiving the Dean’s prize for Allergy for research focused on paediatric drug allergy.
Dr Hurley went on to compete a two year Clinical research fellowship in Children’s Health Ireland while completing a Medical Doctorate with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland researching factors influencing the development of allergic conditions and the early life gut microbiome.
Dr Hurley is currently completing a post-training Fellowship in Paediatric Allergy and Pulmonology in Cork University Hospital with a special interest in food allergy management and prevention in young children and developing services for adolescents with allergic conditions as they transition from paediatric care.
In addition to her research and clinical work in the field of allergy, Dr Hurley lectures and is a module coordinator on the Allergy and Immunology postgraduate degree in University College Cork.
Dr Anne McKiernan

Dr Mc Kiernan qualified from Trinity College Dublin and Dublin Institute of Technology with an honours degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. This degree led her to working for two years as a hospital based dietitian. Whilst working, she completed a certificate in Sports Nutrition in Loughborough University, England.
She then decided to further her knowledge by studying medicine in Trinity College Dublin and she qualified as a doctor in 2008. During her time as a medical student she continued her work in nutrition as a sports nutritionist for various athletes and teams.
From there she worked in various areas of medicine and paediatrics.
She qualified as a general practitioner in 2014 and since 2017 is an integral part of the clinical and research allergy team in Cork University Hospital. Dr Mc Kiernan is a sub-investigator in the food allergy research trials in CUH and is part of Dr Trujillo’s clinical team in the paediatric allergy clinic and food challenge team in CUH. She has gained clinical experience in the area of Food Allergy Research Immunotherapy, Oral Food Challenge and Allergic Rhinitis. Additional she gained specialist experience in Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria, Angioedema, Idiopathic Anaphylaxis and Venom Anaphylaxis.
She is currently adding to her experience by receiving professional qualifications from UCC. She has completed her post graduate certificate of Allergy & Clinical Immunology, is halfway through her diploma and will complete her Masters in 2025.
Ms Deborah Griffin
Deborah Griffin is a highly experienced paediatric dietitian with over 25 years clinical experience in the management of infants and children with growth faltering, nutritional ill health, specialised diets, feeding problems and nutritional support in medically complex children.
In addition, she holds a specialist M.Sc. Allergy from the University of Southampton and is an expert in food allergy management. Reflecting this she is a current module co-ordinator on the M.Sc. Clinical Allergy & Immunology in University College Cork as well as a frequent lecturer on the M.Sc. Human Nutrition & Dietetics. She is also a regular speaker at national and international events on feeding children, feeding problems especially for those with food allergies.
Deborah is passionate about helping parents with managing their child’s food allergy and feeding goals by providing them with the best possible advice.
In partnership with Dr Trujillo and his medical team she believe in providing the best clinical expertise and treatments for parents and their child. This commitment to excellence ensures delivering the best possible results.
Niamh Ryan
Niamh graduated from UCC with a General Nursing Diploma in 2004 and went on to complete her BSC in Nursing Studies in NUIG in 2005. She then worked in NUIG Hospital and CUH for many years.
She began GP practice nursing in 2015 where she developed a keen interest in Allergy Care and began training and working in their allergy clinic looking after both paediatrics and adults. Niamh completed an Allergy in Practice Course in Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital London in 2017.
She joined Allergy Cork in 2021. Niamh is an excellent, thorough and dedicated specialist allergy nurse with a wealth of experience and she always has time for patients and their families.
Meg O’Sullivan
Meg qualified as a children’s and general nurse from UCC in 2019. She worked as a staff nurse in general paediatrics in Cork University Hospital and in Temple Street ICU. She is now involved with the paediatric allergy services in CUH and undertaking a PhD in the use of telehealth in allergy management.
She joined Allergy Cork in 2023. Meg brings vast experience to the team, she is a caring nurse who puts patients and their families first.
Isabelle Crowley
Isabelle joined the team in 2022 after working in medical administration and practice management for 9 years. With the prime focus of looking after the smooth running of the clinic, she manages all areas of the practice including staff, finances, and practice development.
Kathryn Kneefel
Kathryn joined our team in March 2024. With her friendly efficient approach she takes care of correspondence and focusses on scheduling appointments, organising our busy clinics to run smoothly.
